GM Notes:
I am just about to say "let the fire sale begin"... but we are playing well enough to hang on, while the Blue Hens and the Millers can't seem to pull away. I am at a loss for words right now with this team. 4-4 isn't bad this week, but I watch what we do against the "good" teams like the Senators and it just shows that we don't have it.

Thank goodness for the light week. We have 2-days off including tomorrow and our pitching staff can really use the break. Nothing like throwing in a 23 inning game in the middle of an 8-game week. I guess I should have paid some more attention to that game. Funny thing about that game Eugene Todd pinch-hit in the 7th and ended up going 2 for 7.

This week doesn't get any easier as we play the Beacons who can't seem to beat, and the Blue Jays who are one of the top teams in the league right now. If we can pull of some magic and beat the Blue Jays that will be really nice. I am starting to lose faith in these guys.

Going back to the fire sale I really want something to happen, the Blue Hens have to pull away or we have to start tanking. I have a few guys I would like to deal and see what happens. Higashi, Davis, Cruz, maybe some others, I guess it depends on how much of a "fire sale" I want to happen... We have 18-games to go till we hit the All-Star break. If we can get to .500 by then I think we have a good shot of winning the division if not then watch out.

As it stands right now our salary's go up around $5M next year, and that includes seven players dropping off due to free-agency. I will have to monitor the it, but do I want to keep Matt Noble, Nate Rice and Shunen Koyama?

I just took a look at the teams mood and overall it seems to be ok. Yes there are some unhappy players, but will there every be a time when everyone is happy? I am just happy to see so few sad faces, despite the way we have a played... One of the funniest stores is Ramon Cruz, who isn't having a great season and he is unhappy because there are "too many slackers on the team" anyone to care to know what Cruz's work ethic is??

I will end this write up on a bright note.. Robert Shepherd has had a great season so far. Much better than I was expecting, the problem he has ran into is run support. He is 4-7 3.38 with 115 K's in 98.2 innings. He has only walked 34 during that time. He has held his opponents to a crazy .228 average... the problem is he is ONLY getting 2.07 runs per game! Imagine if our offense could score for him. (knock on wood, hopefully I didn't just jinx him).
