On this page, lower portion, is a demo link. Is this the link you're using to download the demo version? It sounds like you haven't actually downloaded the demo.

That's the one I downloaded. The file is also named ootp17demosetup.

I get the opening splash page with links to manual, forum etc. Then another page advertizing ootp18. Then it goes into the start page, which is how I described - everything greyed out except purchasing and serial number options. So, yes, it is definitely not a demo.
