What is the best way to play do you think? Pitch by pitch or one pitch?

Also, any other tips for the best, more realistic gameplay would be appreciated.

Thanks!

jsteele1020,

Out of the Park(OOTP) 17(and Every Version before OOTP 17) is EXTREMELY Deep. I'm quite sure you've noticed this by now, lol. The depth of this Baseball Sim("game") is "mind blowing" as some have voiced in this post. The reason why it is important to grasp how deep OOTP is - is because it will depend on how deep you will want to go IF you are going to have multiple seasons. Personally, I play as GM of the Chicago Cubs (I play with completely fictional players/front office personnel). This new league I am playing with be my 'Main' Baseball Universe' - meaning this League will be the one where I will be importing from version to version. I am starting out my league in 1960. But I will not be interested in playing out every 162 games every season, lol. . Now, you very well might enjoy doing that!! But, as for me.....nah, lol. I put MOST of my focus on trying to keep my good players, drafting my next super star and scouting my feeder leagues (high school and college teams). I love scouting my 'feeder' leagues. You can watch a HS player from the age of 15, then in college until he hits the minors (or sometimes in my case, I've seen them go to international leagues to help develope). If I were to play out my games or watch the games pitch by pitch, it would take me (in real time) a year to play out a 'year' in my MLB Universe. I do, however, watch games every so often. Games I make a 'point' to watch are the Season Opener, milestone or record breaking games for certain players, meaningful games like a few playoff games and many others I will sometimes watch. I will even watch games *IF* a player on other teams are on the verge of breaking a record or hitting a milestone in their personal career. In this new career I am creating where I will be importing from version to version, I will even be taking pictures (print screen) of games of players who break records or hit their personal milestones. Then I will attempt to be creative and create a weekly newspaper (out of the game, obviously because this isn't in OOTP) using those pictures I've taken using the print screen key on the keyboard, I will be putting together stories of these record or milestone breakers.

Why am I telling you all of this??? Well, going back to what I have said in the beginning and going back to what several others have said in the beginning, playing out or watching games all depends on personal preference due to the sheer Depth of OOTP. How much time do you want to spend in the game (the entire game, not the actual pitch by pitch game)? Either way that you decide that you do it is WELL WORTH the time and money spent, but it is entirely up to you on how deep you want to go in what direction you decide to take to get there. Hope that makes sense, lol.

Happy Gaming, Mate!!!
