The National League made it official today: Earl Torgeson is the Player of the Week. "The Earl Of Snohomish" really glistened on the diamond this week with a .455 average to take home the honor. The Boston first baseman went 15-for-33, drove in 6 runs, scored 6 times and hit 2 home runs. Looking at his season stats, Torgeson has compiled a .274 batting average and a .364 on-base percentage, while hitting 12 home runs and driving in 29 runs.

So far in his young career, Hal Trosky has kept a low profile, but after his performance at the plate last week, he attracted the notice of the rest of the American League in a big way as he was named the Player of the Week today for his efforts. The 21-year-old Cleveland Indians first baseman hit at a torrid .526 clip as he collected 20 hits in 38 at-bats, 5 home runs, 15 RBIs and 14 runs scored. Trosky is currently hitting at a .294 pace with 5 home runs and 22 RBIs.
