C'mon guys. You're overreacting! Baseball needs to keep up with the times, get hip to the prevailing zeitgeist, and speed things up because the sport is dying and kids just aren't watching/playing it anymore like they did during dem good ole daYzzzz.

Just like it was dying in 1917:

So, don't you see? At the rate baseball is declining and kids abandoning it, it's going to be completely irrelevant in another 75,000 years. Something needs to be done to save it now!

Besides, the children....OMG! Won't someone please think of the children?!? If they're forced to watch a baseball game that's over 3 hours in length, it might stunt their growth!

Maybe Markus should get ahead of the curve on this and get us all out of the park as quickly as possible, so to speak.
