AI Loves 2-Man Rotations in Playoffs (Historical Fictional League)

I'm skeptical of my AI manager's love of 2-man rotations in the playoffs. Yes, my pitcher's energy is supposedly 100% the day of the game, but it still feels like madness. Plus, in my VERY limited experience, it feels like my pitchers are more wont to give up more runs than usual in these games.

On the other hand, I believe all of the other teams in the league use 2-man rotations as well.

Are there any other hidden, under the hood things that happen when your pitchers pitch on short rest? If they have 100% energy, am I good to go?

I'm playing in a Fictional League set in the 1940s, with all of the settings set to auto-update in lockstep with MLB's historical stats.
