BART SNYDER TRADED TO THE REDS!!!!!!!!!!
Snyder, along with fellow prospects (SP) Hans Crouse, (SP) Brandon Birdsell, (1B) Pavin Smith, and (SP) Cole Sands for
(1B) Joey Votto 80/80 and (3B) Alex Blandino 52/57
Votto is 36 and is owed $100,000,000 over the next four seasons with a club option for another $20,000,000 for the 2024 season.
The Phillies are coming off a 93-69 season, but lack a good first basemen (Justin Turner filled the spot for 2019 on a one year contract but didn't do much for them) really slowed their wins down.
Blandino will be a utility 2B/SS/3B for the Phillies and help all over the diamond.
For the Reds, this is an incredible situation. Votto is starting to regress and is owed a significant amount of money. And the Reds only won 54 games last season, so they need the prospects.
For Snyder, this is the best deal he could get. He was blocked my Franco in Philly and the Reds don't have a third basemen worth anything outside of D.J. Peterson who will likely play first any way now that Votto is gone. He should be able to start the season in the big leagues 90 feet from Max Williams.
