I love the sound of 'Edmonton Explores', but I also like "Oilers" as well.
Since Edmonton is known as " The Oil capital of Canada", anything that has to do with Oil will work imo.
I'd even consider names such as ~
*Edmonton Drillers
*Edmonton Frackers
EDIT (Added two more team names for consideration):
Edmonton is also known for/as for its wildlife. The two animals mostly associated with Edmonton are the Coyotes and Raccoons. Raccoons are probably its most well known 'critter' according to some tourist websites that explain Edmonton in a bit more detail.
So, I'd also consider:
*Edmonton Raccoons
*Edmonton Coyotes
