Excitement building for new fantasy draft
I thought I'd share my story of my two franchises and where my excitement lies. A couple of months ago, I took control of the Atlanta Braves as GM. I cleaned house in the major league level and hired a new manager, ass. GM, coaches, the works. I gave control to the ass. GM and let him do free agency, make trades and take the team where he wants to go. His rep was an Excellent GM when I hired him. I have been watching his moves and anticipating the new season to see where the Braves go under my hires.
Then....I decided to do this....
I thought..."What would it be like to do a fantasy draft of today's players and pick the ENTIRE organization?!" I decided to do a fantasy draft with the Royals and pick EVERY single player of 297 rounds. I have kept all of the staff except for hitting coach Dale Svuem (sp). But I am picking every player thru every round. I am finding more gratification and excitement by doing things this way as I am responsible for how the Royals and every farm team does! Did I build a mega franchise? Have I blew the Royals for the next several years? Playoffs year after year for the majors AND minor league teams? My anticipation is also building from my prospects! I was actually able to draft Alex Bregman, Yoan Moncada, Huascar Ynoa, Trea Turner and Riley Pint. Not. A. Bad. Haul.
My starters:
C Russell Martin, 1B Miggy Cabrera, 2B Ian Kinsler, SS Didi Gregorius, 3B Todd Frazier, LF Matt Joyce, CF Dexter Fowler, RF Matt Kemp. And my ace is Clayton Kershaw with David Price as my No. 2.
Many questions. And many answers to come once the whole organization is built! Can't wait!
Love to hear your thoughts and opinions!
