We are back home to play manager Jim Griffith (44) and his Dodgers a 4-game series over the weekend. We will play a double header tomorrow. They are coming off a series where they lost 3 of 4 to the Phillies in Los Angeles. They are 1-7 since the All-Star break. We are 2-3 against them on the season. The last time we met, we split 2 games in Los Angeles. They are 13th in the NL in scoring with 3.8 runs per game (Portland is #16 (last) with 3.5). They are 14th in runs allowed with 4.9 per game (Portland is #13 with 4.6).

Bottom of the 1st: Ivan Lopez grounds out to short. Rich Babbin pops out to short. Since coming back from his injury vacation, he is now 2 for 24. Frank Wiginton pokes a hit to center. He tries to steal, but is thrown out.
Bottom of the 2nd: The first three batters reach base for us. Lebron Williams walks, Jim Eighmy singles and Eric McCornack walks. Ron Charles lines a hit to center and Williams scores! 1 to 0, Beavers! Randy Penn lines a hit to left and Eighmy scores! 2 to 0, Beavers! P Pete Reilly strikes out. Ivan Lopez grounds one to 3rd and they try to turn a double play, but Steve Gustafson makes a bad throw to 2nd and everyone is safe and McCornack scores! E-5. 3 to 0, Beavers! Rich Babbin draws a walk! 4 to 0, Beavers! Frank Wiginton grounds one to 1st and they try again for a double play, but only get the force at 2nd and Penn scores! 5 to 0, Beavers! 2 outs. Lebron Williams strikes out.
Bottom of the 3rd: Jim Eighmy leads off with a hit and with 1 out, Ron Charles hits a home run to left center! 7 to 0, Beavers! That sends P Jim Salle to the showers.
Top of the 8th: With 1 out, Dennis Reigel reaches on an error by 3B Jim Eighmy. He goes to 2nd on a grounds out and then Steve Gustafson bounces a 2-out hit into center and Reigel scores. 7 to 1, Beavers.
Won - 7 to 3
We had 9 hits and made 1 error.
The Dodgers had 7 hits and made 1 error.
Pete Reilly (W 6-3) went 8.1 innings, allowed 3 runs (2 earned), 6 hits, 1 walk (!!) and struck out 6.
RHP Larry Castillo (SV 1) went 2/3 of an inning and allowed a hit.
Jim Salle (L 4-5) went 2.1 innings, gave us 7 runs (6 earned), 6 hits, 1 home run, 3 walks and struck out 2.
3B Jim Eighmy had 3 hits and scored 2 runs. C Ron Charles had 2 hits with his 4th home run of the season, drew a walk, scored 2 runs and had 3 RBIs. 2B Randy Penn had 2 hits, scored a run and had an RBI.
