Top of the 7th: New pitcher: RHP Greg Richey, our old teammate. 2.65 ERA since the trade. Jim Eighmy leads off by reaching on an error by SS Dick Hedrick. Ron Charles tries to bunt, but cannot make contact, so he beats out an infield hit instead. Pinch-Hitter: LHB Jerry Alston. He grounds into a 6-4-3 double play and Eighmy goes to 3rd. Pinch-Hitter: SHB Eric McCornack. He pops out to 3rd....

Top of the 9th: New pitcher: RHP Jimmy Nester, their closer. With 2 outs, Jim Eighmy sneds one deep to right, but it is caught in the warning track to end the game.

Lost - 3 to 2

In the last Monday Morning Report, I mentioned that our pitchers did not walk a lot of batters. In the three games since then, our starters have each walked 5....

We had 4 hits and made no errors.
The Pirates had 6 hits and made 1 error.

Alan Gross (L 3-5) went 6 innings, allowed 3 runs, 6 hits, 1 home run, 5 walks and struck out 3. At bat, he hit a double and knocked in both of our runs.
RHP Mike Meyer went 2 perfect innings and struck out 1.

Randy Carlson (W 8-5) went 5 innings, gave us 2 runs, 3 hits, 2 walks and struck out 7. At bat, he had a hit.
RHP Jimmy Nester (SV 25) went 1 perfect inning.

SS Ivan Lopez hit a double and scored a run.

For the Pirates, LF Jerry Ford hit his 14th home run of the season.
