Bob Adams 1977

The Tigers took Bob Adams in the 3rd round of the 1973 MLB Draft....He began his career as a 3B playing mostly at Lakeland (before a 5 game stint at Montgomery) in the Florida State League hitting .307 with a HR and 28 RBI in 241 AB. He was moved to C in 1974 and spent most of it at AA Montgomery while also getting 27 games at AAA Evansville. He returned to AA ball in 1975 hitting .283 in 297 AB. He profiled as a solid hitter for .AVG but did not show much power. He spent most of 1976 at AAA in a utility role handling catcher while also getting plenty of time at 1B.

In 1977 he returned to Evansville before getting his only time in the big leagues when he was called up to Detroit in July. He went 6-24 with 2 HR off of lefties Bill Travers and Frank Tanana. He started 3 games in his big league career but mostly appeared as a PH. He returned to the Detroit organization in 1978 but spent most of the season at AA. That was his last year in pro ball.
