I had Richmond and I didn't think it was close. Funny how we all see players differently.
The reasoning:
I rank 3B pretty close to fielding importance as I do RF. Both guys play defense at a Gold Glove quality level. Both guys hit for a fairly high average and a bit of pop. However, what set Richmond apart for me was his plate discipline and bat control. You don't often see power hitters with an almost 1/1 walk to strike-out ration. Richmond took 24 more walks in 125 less plate appearances and struck out 29 less times. There is no question to me who was the better hitter out of the two. Seeing as how I value the defense at both positions the same, it was an easy choice.
Wyman was never in the running. His win total was impressive but that is a team stat. The rest of his stats seem to indicate he was fairly lucky. I'd be curious what his FIP was but I don't think it would change my ranking.
