IF Rickey Clayton has made a 'play me or trade me' demand. He's hitting .200 with no power and fielding horribly. Nobody wants him; I already shopped him around. P's Tony Ricketts and Ron Beckman are the only players we have that anyone else is interested in trading for. I told him that if he wants to be a starter, I can send him to Indianapolis (AAA), but maybe Jacksonville (AA) would be better suited to his talent level. I cannot guarantee he will start games in Indianapolis....
We are back in Oregon and manager Jim Perkins (64) has his Phillies here to play us a 4-game series. They lost 3 of 4 in Phoenix over the weekend, though they outscored the Diamondbacks for the series. All three losses were by 1 run. This is the first time we have played them. They are 9th in the National League in scoring with 4.2 runs per game (Portland is #16 with 3.5). Their batters lead the NL in strikeouts. They are 8th in runs allowed with 4.2 per game (Portland is #12 with 4.6). Their pitchers are 2nd in strikeouts and 2nd to last in home runs allowed and walks.
