Game Start: 7:05 PM
Weather: 63 deg. Clear Skies with a 9 MPH wind blowing in from center.

Jerry Alston strikes out looking. Well, he could not keep getting on base to lead off games forever. Scott Setta flies out to right. Frank Wiginton gives one a ride to left that maybe, could be....caught on the warning track.

Bottom of the 1st: Lee Kowalski pops out to the catcher. Mike Graham grounds a hit past the shortstop. He steals 2nd. He tries to steal 2rd, but that is a little too greedy and C Masanori Ishii throws him out! Good, now Dave Broadwater's upcoming home run will only be a solo shot. Broadwater flies out to shallow center!

Top of the 2nd: After Ernesto Gonzelez strikes out, Masanori Ishii, with the adrenaline still flowing from throwing the base runner out, blasts one 410 ft. to left center! 1 to 0, Beavers!

Bottom of the 4th: Well, I was right about Broadwater having an upcoming home run.... with 1 out, he hits one to right. Tied up at 1.

Top of the 6th: P Alan Gross leads off with a double to right center. Jerry Alston lines a hit to left and Gross stops at 3rd. Here is that very tough scoring situation a gain: 1st and 3rd with no outs.... Scott Setta swings at a 2-2 pitch and makes solid contact and it is sent deep to left where this on could maybe....GONE! That EXTREMELY rare breed of homer bird: the 3-run variety!! 4 to 1, Beavers! That sends P Dick LeFeber to the showers.

Top of the 7th: On the hill: LHP Mike Williams, beginning his 2nd inning of work. Fred Pariseau leads off with a shot to center that easily clears the fence! 5 to 1, Beavers!

Won - 5 to 1

We hit 3 home runs, a new Beaver record!

We had 8 hits and made 1 error.
The Reds had 4 hits and made no errors.

Alan Gross (W 2-2) went 9 innings (CG), allowed 1 run, 4 hits, 1 home run, 1 walk and struck out 5. At bat, he hit a double and scored a run.

Dick LeFeber (L 5-5) went 5+ innings, gave us 4 runs, 5 hits, 2 home runs, no walks and struck out 4.

CF Scott Setta hit his 2nd home run of the season and had 3 RBIs.

For the Reds, LF Dave Broadwater hit his 9th home run of the season and had 2 RBIs. 1B Dan Anderson hit his 4th home run of the year. C Masanori Ishii hit his 5th home run of the year and threw out 2 of 3 base stealers. 2B Fred Pariseau hit his 4th home run.

P.S. I added the 7th reliever to the bullpen and our starters have thrown 6 straight quality starts! Now that reliever is superfluous, but I know as soon as I trim him, we will go back to 4 innings a pop.... So, he'll stay for a bit.
