Jerry Alston leads us off once again by getting on base, this time with a hustle double to left center. Scott Setta flies out to center. Rich Babbin grounds out to 2nd and Alston goes to 3rd. Ernesto Gonzelez work the count full and tries to check his swing on the payoff pitch. The umpire says, "Yes, you checked your swing, but the pitch was a strike and you are out!"

Bottom of the 1st: Lee Kowalski hits one on the nose, but 2B Fred Pariseau leaps up and snags it! Full count to Mike Graham and he takes ball four. Dave Broadwater swings at the first pitch and grounds into a force at 2nd, 6-4. 2 outs. Hal Gratton lines a hit to center. Randy Casebolt grounds out to 1st, 3-1!

Bottom of the 2nd: P Tony Ricketts strikes out the first two hitters, who are both good batters, but lets Dan Anderson, who is not, take him deep. 1 to 0, Reds.

Bottom of the 6th: Lee Kowalski leads off with a hit and with 1 out Dave Broadwater hit a home run to left center. 3 to 0, Reds.

Top of the 8th: PH Frank Wiginton and Jerry Alston lead off with back-to-back singles to give us runners at 1st and 3rd with no outs, a situation we have not been able to score from in a recent memory. Scott Setta grounds a hit to right and Wiginton scores and Alston goes to 3rd! 3 to 1, Reds. New pitcher: RHP Tony Ahern. 6.75 ERA, 30 H in 20 IP. Rich Babbin lines out to right and Alston scampers home. 3 to 2, Reds.

Top of the 9th: New pitcher: RHP Don Butts, who IS their closer now. 9.00 ERA, but he saved one yesterday against us. Rick Ferrell strikes out. Jim Eighmy, cold as can be, grounds out to 3rd. 2 outs. Pinch-Hitter: LHB Rich Doody. He swings a the first pitch and flies out to left....
