Key moments: Preston Tucker hit the first of four Cardinals home runs with a two-run blast off Nationals starting pitcher Max Scherzer, staking his team to a 2-0 lead. Jacob Wilson followed with a three-run shot off Scherzer in the third, making the STL advantage 5-0. The Cardinals made it lopsided in the sixth, a three-run homer from Stephen Piscotty off Brett Anderson making it 9-1. A.J. Pollack capped the homerfest with a two-run homer off Matt Lindstrom in the eighth.
