Key moments: Tied 1-1, the Dodgers grabbed the lead for good with two runs in the top of the seventh inning. Cody Bellinger got things going with a one-out single off Cardinals starter Michael Wacha. Yulieski Gurriel followed with a double, moving Bellinger to third. Yasmani Grandal was then given an intentional walk, loading the bases. Wacha struck out Trayce Thompson for the second out. Kevin Siegrist then took the mound to face fellow left-hander Alex Verdugo and allowed a two-run single putting the Dodgers up 3-1. A Jedd Gyorko solo homer off Dodgers starting pitcher Felipe Rivero in the bottom of the seventh made it 3-2. L.A., however, got the run back in the eighth, when Corey Seager reached on an error by first baseman Evan Gattis and scored on an Joc Pederson double off Tyler Lyons.
Player of the game: Rivera pitched six innings, allowing one run on two hits. He struck out one and walked one.
