Ouch, I don't think I've ever heard of a real NHL team only having 7 AHL players under contract before and only 5 skaters!

Probably the only solution is that you may need to send down a higher salaried player or two to the AHL for whatever little bit of cap relief that might provide and use the extra money to sign cheap players.

I'm not sure if you'd even be able to get enough cap relief doing that to matter though.

It's always good to leave yourself some room to maneuver against the budget or that cap, and to make sure to have enough depth in the AHL that you can at least have some cover for injuries.

It'd be better when making up your roster to not sign one extra NHL player making a decent salary and to use that money sign a bunch of guys to the minimum, or just to keep in reserve in case of need, so you have enough depth in the AHL to cover for emergencies, even if those AHL players aren't terribly interesting.
