Well, to be fair, the Indians were only because they were an Indians farm team for years. This team is a Rangers farm club.
The traditional nickname for Kinston teams is the Eagles, which was one of the choices in the name the team contest.
"Down East" is a regional identifier corresponding roughly to the triangle between Goldsboro, New Bern and Jacksonville, and heading all the way to the Atlantic. Kinston is located in that triangle. As I said in an earlier post, 97% of the country would be left scratching their heads at its use.
While I would have preferred the Kinston Eagles, I actually don't mind the Wood Ducks. But it's the Down East part that I hate.
