From the Chicago Tribune....Fred Russell, now a Denver resident, withstood a pounding from Joe Kennedy in the first round and several terrific blows in the second before rushing the Californian into the ropes and smashing him to the ribs...the end came from a wild haymaker of a right that fans thought nearly took the champion's head off and deposited him in a heap halfway out of the ring where he was counted out and carried away by his seconds...So Russell has his 8th straight victory and is the new Pacific Northwest heavyweight champion...
