Brad Ausmus has critics, but Tigers GM is only voice that counts http://www.mlive.com/tigers/index.ssf/2016/10/brad_ausmus_tigers.html
Should he stay or should he go now?
Ausmus has a team option for 2017. Do you think Detroit should keep him on another year or give him the heave ho?
I think they should keep him. I thought he did a very good job overall. He handled the bullpen very well. He had to deal with some pretty big injuries throughout the year: Castellanos, J.D. Martinez, Zimmermann, Maybin, Iglesias. He had 3 of the original 5 starters crap out on him: Zimmermann, Sanchez, and Pelfrey. He had 3 rookie/basically rookie starters pitch for him for a huge chunk of the season. And the team was in the playoff hunt until the last game of the season. This team that finished in last place last year.
I think, earlier in the year there were actually rumblings of him being considered for manager of the year because of how well he has done. I think that's out the window since they didn't make the postseason.
I like him. I think he's a keeper. And, should he still be here next year, I really look forward to what he can do with this young pitching staff.
