"world.dat" file is missing" is just code for "I cannot find the game that you want me to call up and play." Unless the file itself is missing, that is, which is another problem. World.dat is located in your league's saved game folder, seen below (first screen print). It's probably the most important .dat file in the game, hence the message referring to it in this situation.
If you can navigate to that folder with Windows Explorer (or the equivalent file manager in your system) then it could be just a matter of going to Game, Game Settings, Database and checking to see if the program is looking at that folder. Check what it says for "Path to game folder" (second screen print).
If this does not match the actual folder location, the easiest thing to do is to move your game folder (MLB.lg in this case) to wherever the program is pointing to; that is, into the saved_games folder indicated in "Path to game folder." If you cannot locate your game folder with Windows Explorer and, hopefully, you have backed up your game recently, copy/restore the backup to this location.
