So you say there were online issues with FHM2? Well what if the development team couldn't do enough to fix them and still released with online? Would you be happy? Would you still be spreading the word about FHM? I don't think many people would be and rightfully so. As a result of that fear, an "online vs. single player game" as a priority sounds quite similar to what their discussion might of been. It's a big deal for some as we've seen, and they would of handled it as such and I imagine it got quite heated as well.
What you paraphrased above is the truth. And it's great if people spread the word - that's how this game spreads - but no one owes that to anyone. The NHL License will hopefully help sell and grow the exposure but the game still must receive favorable reviews. It can't do that for a jack of all trades, not yet.
