I notice that it's usually pretty easy to trade for good, but expensive and older relievers, even at the highest difficulty. So Albuquerque was probably undervalued compared to the other relievers. Also, perhaps Bradley and the other relievers were out of options, and the AI didn't want to risk losing them on waivers? I've actually done similar things (releasing 3+ star relievers
The move is a bit strange, but not really an issue IMO. Besides, in the game and also in real life, it's very difficult to find relievers who are consistently very good across seasons.
