Yeah, this really needs to happen. The new style doesn't make much sense, especially since there is no real way to judge what a particular coach is actually good at. It doesn't help when team trainers are frequently given the preferred position of Manager even though they have 0 ratings in all the coaching categories. Oh, but their "reputation" is good so teams hire them to manage.
The idea that in real life coaches are based entirely on "reputation" and not actual specific skills is absurd. Even if it's a bit subjective, make it more like scouting where we can at least see that Manager X is supposed to be good with hitters or good with pitchers or whatever.
