Whenever I see something odd.. I like to post about it to see if there is something rational I'm missing.

Al Alburquerque was an absolute stud for us for the previous two seasons, leading the AL in saves both seasons. He wanted too much money to resign (for good reason) and we had a young hard throwing setup pitcher who we figured would fill the closer role just fine.

He sits forever in FA that off season and the LA Dodgers signed him to a modest 1 year deal for $4,240,000. He's pitched well for the Dodgers, but on July 22nd they released him. The Dodgers are 10 games out of first, but only 5 games out of a Wild Card with 59 games left.

I just can't think of a reason why they would just release him?

What am I missing here? He's also Very Popular..
