Game 1 - Brisbane, Queensland

Adelaide sent out the only pitcher on their roster with a win against Brisbane, Orlando Lara. Lara, a Mexican national, has had is first year in the ABL winning 7 games, 2 losses, and has an ERA 1.59. James Parr, an ABL veteran will take the mound for Brisbane, he only has three appearances on the season after struggling with injuries on the year. The first in was a pair of 1,2,3 innings. Adelaide could not produce anything in the top of second. In the bottom of the second Adam Kalman hit a solo HR off Lara. In the bottom of the third Jose Gil doubled, Martin Rafferty moved him over on a ground out, and SS Aaron Sayers would single him home. 2-0. Another 1 two three inning for Parr in the fourth. Parr still held a no hitter through 5. In the sixth, Adelaide would strike back with a HR from CF Seb Ollson. Parr would leave the game after Jhonathon Arias hit a single on the next pitch. Parr's injury has yet to be diagnosed. Gordon Moy would single off Tristan Crawford. Crawford had 9 wins on the year, and is known for his control but has a tendency to give up big long hits when he misses. Welch however could not cash in on the runners in scoring position. Lara pitched a 1,2,3 bottom of the sixth. 1 Adelaide, 2 Brisbane. The seventh featured great pitching as the tough game continued. Logan Corless (Brisbane) would get a leadoff double in the 8th, but Martin Rafferty GDIP after a walk, and Aaron Sayers struck out leaving Corless, and an insurance run, on third. Ryan Beckman would come in to close it out. A fly out, line, out and strike out later and Brisbane would get the key first win.
