Conference Championships - 2033

Sixteens Heading to League Championship: After their 7-3 win today at Ballpark of Georgetown over the Lewes Braves, the Georgetown Sixteens will advance to the League Championship. Georgetown won the series by a 4-2 margin.

Leading the way for the Sixteens was starting pitcher Ricardo González, who had a spectacular series and was named MVP.

"I don't play differently in the regular season or playoffs. I just go out and do my best every game," he said. "It's certainly nice to play in the big game, but you can't let it get to your head and change your focus."

The Georgetown Sixteens will play against the Norfolk Cavaliers in the next round. Norfolk won their series against the Richmond Cardinals 4 games to 1. The League Championship schedule will be announced after the Conference Championship finishes.

Including one the best Conference Championships performances ever, but a guy who is had one of the best pitching years ever. To no ones surprise...
Sixteens González Strikes out 16 Braves: Ricardo González of the Georgetown Sixteens put on a pitching clinic today at Ballpark of Georgetown as he struck out 16 Lewes Braves in a 7-3 victory. González, who won the Golden Arm Award in 2032, was simply magnificent as he held the Braves to 4 hits. He walked 2.

"I felt okay at the beginning," González said, "but eventually my change up really started working. I also have to thank my catcher for calling a great game."

When asked about González's performance, Sixteens manager Mal Gentry shook his head and said, "Yeah, he was pretty good out there today. He was dominating."

This season in 34 starts Ricardo González has a record of 27-4 with 345 strikeouts in 269.2 innings and a 2.07 ERA.

Norfolk Win Conference Championship: Manny Vega sparked his Norfolk Cavaliers past the pesky Richmond Cardinals in a closely-contested Conference Championship.

Norfolk topped Richmond 13-4 at Ballpark of Richmond to decide the series, 4-1

For his efforts, Vega was rewarded with the series MVP trophy for his .409 batting average, 4 RBIs and 4 runs scored.

"You never want to leave anything on the field," Vega said. "You never want to miss a play of defense you could have made, or give up an extra base you could have gotten, because in a series this tight you never know what you'll need to win."

The Norfolk Cavaliers don't know who they will face in the next round. They will play the winner of the Lewes Braves - Georgetown Sixteens series. Georgetown leads the series 3 games to 2. The League Championship schedule will be announced after the Conference Championship finishes.

What makes the Cavaliers so dangerous? They have 2 of the games top pitchers on their roster, Joaquin Hernandez and Ernie Kennedy, but they also have a solid #4 who can dominate a game from time to time:
Cavaliers SP Davis Tosses Masterpiece: 22-year-old Norfolk Cavaliers pitcher Bob Davis had a strong outing against the Richmond Cardinals at Ballpark of Richmond today, keeping them off the scoreboard the whole game. He struck out 4 in the 1-0 win and walked 3 while surrendering 5 hits.

"Hopefully there will be plenty more of these in the future for us," he said.

This year Davis has a 16-10 mark in 31 starts with a 3.01 ERA. He has given up 206 hits in 227 innings, struck out 146 and issued 53 walks. Opposing clubs have compiled a .240 batting average against him.

------------------

I am not sure what is going to go on in the Championship series. I am happy to see both of my former teams showing off and I look for a tight low-scoring series. Both teams have just dominated the second half this year, which should make this a fun series.
