Game two of the twin-bill will see LHP
Eric Stuart make his final start of the season. The 29 year old Stuart is 5-6 with a 3.55 ERA in 20 starts. He will face fellow Lefty,
Ted Slade. The 24 year old sports a 0-1 record with 17 saves and a 3.50 ERA. Slade is making his 1st start of the season as the Reds appear to be converting the minor league starting pitcher back to a starting role.... or the ran out of starting pitching.

Eric Stuart gives up a run on a fielders choice after back to back Singles to start the bottom of the 1st. He survives the 1st on 20 pitches but the Reds lead 1-0.
After giving up a lead off Double in the 2nd,
Eric Stuart gets the next 2 outs before giving up a run scoring Single. The Reds lead 2-0 after the 2nd.
The Expos ended SP
Eric Stuart's season after 5 innings, he had allowed 2 runs on 6 hits with 5 strikeouts. The bring in 26 year old RHP
Carl Mathieu who is 1-0 with 4 saves, a 3.09 ERA in 11 innings this season. Mathieu is expected to be a regular with the Expos in 1974. Mathieu sits the Reds down 1-2-3, in the inning. Reds still lead 2-0.

Dan Bevilacqua comes out for the bottom half to pitch. Bevilacqua is 2-2 with a 2.52 ERA in 25 innings. The 26 year old was very effective this season. He gives up a pair of hits in the inning but gets a critical double play and the Reds still lead 2-0 going into the top of the 9th.

Cory Carlson legs out a Single hit to the 1st baseman, Samms scores. LH hitting
Juan Chapa comes in to PH for the pitcher, he lines out to 3B and the Expos lose 2-1.
Reds SP
Ted Slade goes 8 innings allowing just 2 hits and striking out 4. The Expos were able to get 3 hits against RHP
Erik Rooney, but it was not enough. SP
Eric Stuart fell to 5-7 on the year.
