This game.... this game..... I almost can't put anything into words.

I have thousands of hours into Football Manager since 2011. I feel like I've 'solved' that one, to be honest.

This game..... no matter how perfect you are, you're at the mercy of the baseball gods in the playoffs. And MLB's rules are much more fair than those of the European soccer leagues. You can't stockpile talent for nothing and just when a player has reached his peak he's usually way too expensive for you. The decisions that must be made are gut-wrenching, hair-wringing, nail biting affairs. Nothing it worse than taking a shot on a guy you really want to keep only to see him hit an early decline and eat up 20 million for the next 4 years. You only make that mistake once. Until the next time, anyway.

I think the most important thing this game has done for me though is to rekindle my childhood love of baseball. I grew up with 90's baseball; the steroid era took away all of my love for the game. Watching McGwire and Sosa and Bonds just made me sick to my stomach. I developed a hatred for the game, I really did. Everything about it was false.

It's no lie that OOTP has brought some of that love back for me.

No joke, I expect this to be one of a very few number of games that I play for the next several years. It's consumed my gaming time that much for the last month.

Special thanks to Orcin, whose dynasty threads I read while my games are being played out by the AI manager. He's really given me a lot of inspiration in how to manage my club, how to become immersed in my fictional universe and make tough decisions.

Sorry for the rambling post but the tl;dr is, this game is a fantastic achievement and I look forward to the coming years of frittering away my life chasing those elusive world series titles.
