I started this dynasty shortly after the purchase of OOTP 17 and retired a few of the ones I had on previous versions. I wanted to do a dynasty where I could play out the games, but I felt 162 games was too long to keep interested and would move too slow. The set up was completely a fictional game based on the 1969 24 team league with a couple of exceptions. I manage the game and act as a GM although I do allow a AI manager (Rich Holder) to take the credit, as well as set up the rotation and make the defensive and pitching decisions during the game leaving the substitions and offense to me.
The MLB season starts roughly April 15th and goes for 100 games with a trade deadline and expanded rosters at roughly 80 games. I also have 3 levels of minors AAA (90 games) AA (80 games) and A (70 games) with reduced schedules. Unlike the RL Majors, the draft takes place in the off-season.
The league was initiated with a draft which I let the AI handle, too much work for me and the very first season as previously mentioned was 1969. The structure is very close to the 1969 MLB structure except that AL East has the Toronto Blue Jays and the AL West has the Seattle Mariners. Each division will produce a pennant champion and then a World Series thus mimicking the 1969 playoff structure.
So as we finalize the 5th season of play, we have had different 3 World Series winners over 4 seasons.
San Francisco Giants 1969
Chicago White Sox 1970
Chicago White Sox 1971
Los Angeles Dodgers 1972
We will cover some of the MLB leaders and record holders at the end of this season...
Next up.......... The history of the Montreal Expos.
