Totally agreed!
Recently completed a 1984 season replay - and Houston had locked up the NL West but continued to roll out all their starters... wouldn't you know it... both Mike Scott and Nolan Ryan went down with major (multi-month recovery - thus, season-ending) injuries and missed the playoffs. Ryan was injured on the next-to-last day of the season!
Not that it couldn't happen IRL, but a real-life manager likely WOULD have played the call-ups a bit more down the stretch with a playoff slot locked up. How likely is it a team would lose it's #1 and #2 starters in the final few games of the year when they've already clinched a playoff spot?
