This would work well with a Big Idea I have to overhaul budgeting to make it relevant. I'm waiting to board a plane, so briefly:

1. You negotiate a 3 season budget level based an overall focus: rebuild, winning record, win WS, etc.

2 the owner gives you a few either choices with rewards.

3 If you meet each measurable goal, you get the agreed upon reward

When the three years are up you negotiate a new objective wit new goals. Or find a new team.
