you can do csv exports from various websites... one time setup of spreadsheet and it's automated every year after that... even automate changing the format to one that can be imported to the game. as long as things match up to what you will eventuall save as a quickstart or a template in game would work just fine.
the initial setup would be a small bit of effort (couple hours? give or take), but it's one-time only thing if done properly and with an eye to the future.
if they don't do it / want / have time / whatever the reason, i don't think anyone should be sour grapes about it not happening. one of us could do what i suggested, then submit their work for ootp to use in future years.
legality of using some websites exported data may be a problem for a commercial entity like ootp, but it isn't for people like us, the users of ootp.
baseball-reference does this... not sure if oyu can do the entire league of individuals at one time or not... defintiely can do by team and leaguewide stats. there may be missing stuff, too, if they don't cover all the same stats as each other (ootp and baseball-reference). that would throw a little wrench into a completely automated spreadsheet.. but if the data exists out there for export, using 2 data exports is not a problem at all.

Reason: changed a "they" to "one of us"
