This Game is Totally Unrealistic
EDIT: For those who might be looking at this post at a later date, all the stats posted here are actually the real-world stats of the listed players at the time of the original post. I state that they occurred in one of my games to be ironic, but they are actually real-world stats, and the objective is to demonstrate that what we might think of as "unrealistic" in one of our games might actually be more realistic than we think.
The best thing about OOTP is its realism. But sometimes this realism just doesn't show through, but it has to match up more often than not or the game is ruined.
I know the game only recognizes number and not names, but some things are just ridiculous. I'm in early August in my game, and some of the stats are just completely unrealistic. Take a look at these numbers:
Giancarlo Stanton: .242 batting average
Bryce Harper: .235 batting average
Justin Upton: .247 batting average, 13 HR
David Price: 9-7, 4.30 ERA
Matt Harvey: 4-10, 4.86 ERA
Shelby Miller: 2-9, 7.14 ERA
Dallas Keuchel (reigning AL CYA winner): 7-11, 4.56 ERA
Chris Archer: 5-15, 4.38 ERA
James Shields: 5-13, 4.92 ERA
Daniel Murphy: .357 Avg, 21 HR, .396 OBP, .572 SLG, 1.022 OPS
Trevor Story: .272, 27 HR, .909 OPS
MLB HR Leader: Mark Trumbo
MLB Wins Leader: J.A. Happ
Kansas City Royals (defending World Champions): 51-58, 4th place in AL Central
New York Mets (defending NL Champions): 56-53, 3rd place in NL East
Arizona Diamondbacks: 43-65, last place in NL West
I'm sorry, but these ridiculous stats are completely unrealistic, and they're ruining the game for me!
