A day or two ago I heard rumblings that Baltimore had Tom Hulett on the trade block. After sending Ryan out to give him a closer look, and determining that the Orioles weren't asking for much, the following deal shook out:
In Hulett, we get an immediate (albeit marginal) upgrade to the Ed Sprague/Darnell Coles platoon at the hot corner, and Bowers wasn't going to figure into our future plans, bouncing between two levels of A-ball this year and not performing well at either. To make room for Hulett, Ray Giannelli (whom Cito had yet to put into a game) was waived and designated for assignment.
