I think the reason you got backlash is because you are asking for sponsorship from people you dont know and that you haven't provided any value to.

here is some advice if you are interested.I am a father of 4 and have been a coach of mostly high school kids for over 30 years. I do have some perspective on this. if it helps great, if not - no big deal just another grown up talking too much

- I was about as poor as a person could be when I was younger, and now I am doing fairly well. this is because of good fortune, good people and a lot and I mean a lot of sweat. nothing beats hard work. obnoxious grown up cliche? sure, but it is because it is so true.

- your idea of a you tube channel has some value - however you have the model backwards. You need to create the work first, and create, create and create and then after a long time some people may have interest in giving you funding. No one is going to fund you for work you intend to do unless they are your family, or you have a long history of making other people money. check out what the Green brothers did with crash course. Years of great content before they ever raised any money. You want people to give you money to watch you play video games. that is never going to happen because it doesnt add value to people and there are already hundreds of thousands of videos like that for free. no leverage

-checkout this book from the founder or reddit. He really lays out a very interesting plan for young people vs the "normal" go to college, get a job route. it is a great book and I encourage all young people to read it. If you PM me your mailing address (or ebook email address if you prefer that) I will buy you this book. It really is a great guideline.

- bottom line in order to make money in this world you need to either make money for someone else (a job say at mcdonalds is really you turning your 10/hour of labor into 50/hour for the corporation) or you need to provide something they value.

- the number one thing I wish I understood when I was younger is you always are worth what you have the leverage to negotiate. Why did I get 3.35/hour working for jack in the box in 1982? because that was all the leverage I had. why do some seemingly mediocre NBA 10th players get millions, because that is the leverage they have. the best thing you can do is work to increase your leverage. going to school, learning to code, learning to analyze data - those things increase your leverage. Never stop increasing your leverage. it is the only real way to go from broke to wealthy.

good luck
