We are in Louisville, Kentucky, today to begin a scheduled 4 game series with manager Elmer Higgins (43-6.4) and his Bourbons. We beat them 2 of 3 in Detroit at the end of May the first time we met. 2 of the 3, including the one we lost were 1-run contests and the other was an 18 to 1 laugher. They are 4th in the League in runs scored with 5.5 per game (Detroit is 3rd with 5.6). They are 4th in the League in runs allowed with 5.5 per game (Detroit is #1 with 3.5).

They play in Eclipse Park, built by and still named for a previous Louisville team. It is pretty fair to both pitchers and hitters, except that it is relatively easy to hit a ball over the right field fence and pretty tough to get one over the left field boundary.

Detroit Wolverines (31-14 .689 in 1st place in the Liberty League) at
Louisville Bourbons (30-22 .577 4.5 GB in 3rd place)

Al Rice, Det. (24-7.6) (R 13-5 1.19 6.5-1.9-4.6 H/9-BB/9-SO/9) vs. Jumbo Hoops, Lou. (24-6.5) (R 9-7 4.11 10.2-2.9-3.0)

Hoops got their lone win in the series we played in Detroit.

The Bourbons' veteran players are all mostly really nice guys and their young players are all mostly hooligans.
