From my current sim, now in January 2028...

About ten drafts back I take a 2B named Clarence Whitney. His "makeup is off the charts!" and he went to my alma mater, but his ratings are meh. Still, a good risk to take. Alas, his spirit was willing but his flesh was weak, and he never made it past AA.

Flash ahead to 2025, and he's announced as the new manager of the San Diego Padres. Wha..? He's a coach now? Attaboy, Clarence! Way to earn your wings! Anyway...he's not able to turn around that terrible franchise and gets fired this past off-season. I see the firing message in my inbox and think that now I can hire him and "bring him home." Except that when I open his profile I see that he's already managing the A-ball team for the Brewers.

Wth? Too fast, OOTP, too damn fast.
