Pre-Injruries effecting a player performance?

I've been seeing this a lot lately, a player will suddenly start or go into a very prolonged cold streak (1-2 months, no cold streak indicator) and then boom they get an injury.

I know it's hard to think about, but here's an example, in my new Rockies franchise Carlos Gonzalez we really under performing. Gonzalez was only batting .230/.276/.410 with only 6 home runs in Coors throughout the season up to mid June. Then after a severe 5 game stretch where he went hitless, he went down with a torn labrum and is now out for the season

I was wondering if this injury had any correlation with his lagging performance, I think it's really cool as that is an explanation for his sucky performance. Is this programmed into the game perchance and if not is it a possibility?
