that's because the league totals they are using for the minors result in a high average and likely fairly low slugging relative to the elevated average - guessing on latter part.

they do their research on this stuff. so i'd guess that the AAA leagues typically perform in this manner. some tiers are not elevated like, i'm assuming it was AAA. i think it gives a high .270's avg or something?

tbh, i leave my minors all 1.000 and don't even look at results... i realize you may have a more vested interest. i'll try to say some things in general about the related settings you can use, though. i will speak about mlb stuff, but it's all relative to each league too.

"normal" modern stats is a somewhat personal preference. if you think the 2016 League totals are off, then change them a bit - but only at league creation, i wouldn't edit them on the fly - just use modifiers to manipulate at that point. .250s-.265 BA? .315-.325OBP? .395-.405Slug? people have varying ideas. using auto-calc will keep results somewhere reasonably near the rates resulting from your offensive League Totals / AB et al., on the Stats and AI settings page.

the resulting guesstimate for the slash line given on that screen will probably be the best indicator of resulting league ERA. it will ebb and flow +/- .25 without using auto-calc and tuned for static LTM. (league total modifiers) I'm gessing it ebbs and flows more if using auto-calc.

if you play fictional, you can import league totals from a specific year. i believe 2016 results in modern mlb league totals. if you want to double check, run a quick start mlb 2016 game and take a screenshot of the Stats and AI screen showing LTM and LT.

it's all relative, so even if it uses more AB than your league will get, no problems that i can see result from the "AB" LT not matching the league's typical yearly AB totals. i recently tried someone else's method by using 100,000AB and applying rates/percentages in a much easier manner to hits, 2b etc, the offensive stuff tied to AB.
