Brian Harper had an odd career. Harper could hit but it took a long time for a major league organization to give him a real shot at everyday play, and when the Twins turned to him in the late 1980s he gave them some decent years as their starting catcher. Before that, Harper rode the pines for seven years as a reserve outfielder-catcher with California (1981), Pittsburgh (1982-1984), St. Louis (1985), Detroit (1986), and Oakland (1987). I have seen only one previous photo of him with the Tigers, which I suspect may be a photoshop job. Here he is in a very good snap from dr. jteeee. Now, if only someone could find him with the A's...
