Even with the owner goals enabled, I have not found any negative issues other than the "berating" the owner gives at the end of a season, especially when someone is not signed to an extension. I have played with this option enabled for a few seasons
2015 thru 2021 and I have not been fired by not signing an over age, over paid player to an extension even though my record is hovering around .500. But of course this all depends on the "owner's" personality.
