Fictional. Using OOTP to play real MLB is like driving a Ferrari to the end of your driveway to collect your mail.
UNLIMITED COSMIC POWER !!!
Itty bitty living space
OOTP's real beauty is the wonderful world of options it opens up for the user to create any baseball universe one can imagine. There's already a real MLB, anyway, and when I try to play "Real" MLB in OOTP I find that I get my baseball universes confused. I lose track of which teams and which players are performing well or poorly in which universe. I think a lot peoples' hang ups with fictional comes from the unfamiliar names or whatnot. After a couple of seasons though, your fictional players are just as "real" to you as the real players are, or such has been my experience anyway. I started my current fictional league in the year 2000 on OOTP15 and I've carried it over to 16. I sim one day at a time and I'm currently in 2013. I've dabbled in a few other things but always come back to that league.
