2031 - Newcomer of the Year
Top DE Conf Rookie Trophy Taken by Jeffries: Kevin Jeffries's age didn't show very often in his first year. He performed more like a veteran on the hill for the Newark Millers and today he walked away with the 2031 Delaware Conference Newcomer Award.
The 25-year-old starter registered a 16-8 record this season in 31 starts. Over 187.1 innings he gave up 181 hits, struck out 108 and issued 47 walks as he held the opposition to a .251 batting average and fashioned a 2.69 ERA.
Jesse Sparks of the Newark Millers finished second in voting, while Gwang-soo Cho of the Chadds Ford Cannons finished third.
Ellicott City Starting Pitcher Chosen Best Rookie: Ellicott City rookie starter Craig Wilson has a new addition to his trophy case after the MarVa Conference presented him with the 2031 Newcomer Award today.
In 32 starts he ran up a 13-10 won-lost mark and 3.45 ERA. In 211 innings the Express rookie fanned 186 and walked 44.
Domingo Espinosa of the Richmond Cardinals finished second in voting, while Roy Okumura of the Richmond Cardinals finished third.
