Cy Vorhees 1902
In his only season in the major leagues (after playing at Oberlin College and Syracuse University), Henry Vorhees pitched in ten games for the Phillies and one for Washington. His pitching record was mediocre (3-4, 3.94 ERA, and he allowed a home run by Christy Mathewson) but his batting record was outstanding (9-for-23, .391 + 3 walks). He pitched a few more years in the minors, and died in 1910. The bull terrier's name was "Joy".
