What are some of your unusual/unique fictional leagues?
One of the things I love most about OOTP is that you can easily create whatever kind of baseball universe you want to play in. You can have mixtures of players from different eras, you can have baseball leagues in places where the game is virtually unknown, or you can have leagues in places that don't even exist. Some of my favorite dynasty reports over in the dynasty section of this forum feature leagues based in imaginary countries.
What are some of your out-of-the-ordinary fictional leagues?
I have a United Baseball League that combines Negro League and MLB teams, starting in the 1950s. The back story is that a financial collapse resulted in a consolidation of professional baseball in the US.
I have a Global League with teams from all over the world--North America, Europe, South America, Asia, Africa. An absurd concept, yes...no team is going on a road trip through several continents. But it's fun to imagine, and the concept helps keep me interested. I also like the collection of interesting player names.
I have an OOTP 12 league in, of all places, the Sahel, a region in northern Africa that is mostly desert. I was doing some research on Mali and Niger and just thought it would be fun to have a league in such an interesting part of the world.
I have an OOTP 12 African League, based on the theory that Cuban expeditionary forces and cultural groups popularized baseball throughout the continent after Che Guevara's visit to Ghana and other African countries in 1964-65.
I began an Irish League a few years ago, inspired by some research I was doing then on Northern Ireland, but lost it due to a hard drive failure.
What are some of your unusual leagues?
