Yes, just what was said by Wolf & company. No stars, no nothin. Uh oh, draft time. Do you take the college player who hit .300 against great talent, or do you take the HS player who hit .457 against average talent. Or do you ditch both, and take the SP that your scout wants you to take, who went 9-0 with a 1.95 ERA against good talent?
Stats only makes you pay so much more attention to a players progress in your farm system. How long do you ride that first round draft pick, who is hitting .245 at AA, and only hit .250 last season in AA? You can't rush through a season. I always sim at least five seasons, sometimes up to eight to build some history, and then take over an expansion team. The draft is a blast, and I "always" have the lowest payroll or nearly the lowest every season, just to see how far I can take a team on a low payroll. I've seen guys on this forum who "boast" that they have won four or five World Series in a row. Yea, they use stars, scouts on normal or higher, etc. Please! How challenging is that. Lazy man's way of doing it, but hey, to each his own!
