BOSTON DOVES VS PITTSBURGH PIRATES
Pittsburgh won Game 1 4-0 as Vic Willis pitched a 4-hit shutout. It was a tight 1-0 game until the Pirates scored 3 in the 7th to put it away. Spike Shannon got a 2 RBI single in the bottom of the 10th to give the Pirates a 2-1 win in Game 2. The Doves run in the top of the 10th ended a streak of 18 scoreless innings. Howie Camintz allowed just 1 run in 10 innings to get the win. Cecil Ferguson allowed just 2 runs on 4 hits in 9.1 innings but got the loss. Boston's Johnny Bates went 3-for-4. Boston nipped Pittsburgh 4-3 in Game 3. The Pirates out-hit the Doves 12-3 but also committed 4 errors. Vic Willis allowed just 1 earned run in 8 innings but got the loss. Honus Wagner went 4-for-5 and Spike Shannon went 3-for-5 for Pittsburgh. Pittsburgh won Game 4 2-0. Howie Camintz had a 2-hit shutout. It was the first win by a road team in the series. The Doves won Game 5 by a run 4-3. Boston trailed 3-0 before scoring 4 runs in the bottom of the 6th. The Pirates committed 3 errors in the game. Irv Young got the win. Lefty Leifield alowed just 1 earned run in 8 innings but got the loss. Boston took Game 6 5-3 in 10 innings. Vive Lindaman did not allow an earned run in 5 innings to get the win. The Doves had 13 hits but also committed 4 errors. The Doves sneaked past the Pirates 4-3 in Game 7. Pittsburgh had 10 hits in the loss. Howie Camintz lost for the only time in the series. The Pirates Roy Thomas had a solo home run in the bottom of the 6th inning. Pittsburgh's Honus Wagner was named Series MVP.
